Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) Review

Ferris Bueller's Day off is 1986 teen comedy about high school senior, his girlfriend and his best friend skipping school for the day.

The Film Features Matthew Broderick (The Lion King) as Ferris Bueller, Alan Ruck (Spin City)  as Cameron Frye and Mia Sara (Timecop) as Sloane Peterson.

The film centres around high school senior Ferris Bueller, as he decides to skip school for the day. Throughout the film he is accompanied by His Girlfriend Sloane Peterson and his best friend Cameron Frye, During the course of the film they have to avoid the dean of students Edward Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) His resentful sister Jeanie Bueller (Jennifer Grey).

This film is a very clever coming of age teenage comedy. The casting of Broderick as Ferris Bueller is a stroke of genius as he portrays the character so well, and his ability to frequently break the fourth wall is demonstrated throughout the film. The film in my opinion doesn't really have that many funny parts throughout it. Dont get me wrong the iconic scenes were Ferris is singing 'Twist and Shout' by the Beatles is genuinely funny, but it just seems more of a feel good film in my opinion. The progression of the character Cameron Frye is also a good aspect of the film, at the start he is basically a bum with no life, but by the end of this day off he has developed into an adult who realises all his sadness has come from his father, and he realises he has to stand up to him. the films ability to break the fourth wall comes into action a lot aswell with Ferris often giving updates on the situation.

All in all this film is a work of art. Having Grossed $70,136,369 at the box office it is undoubtedly a smash hit. When I say this is my Favourite film of all time I join the likes of Michael Buble and Justin Timberlake. A classic film.

All Time Low- Nothing Personal Review

This Is what pop punk should sound like...

From the opening track you can tell the album had drawn heavy influence from blink 182 and sum 41 etc. The album kicks of with the epic lead single of the album 'Weightless' a song about being a kid and skating and just enjoying summer while its here. The album then moves through songs about breaking up with girlfriends, Being drunk, and some epic powerful chorus' that are guaranteed to stick in you head all day. Now so far you may think that this isn't original and you have probably heard it before.

But what sets this album apart is the serious feel it takes towards the end of the tracks with epic slow rock songs like 'Sick Little Games' And 'Therapy', song that previous punk pop albums seem to lack. The album also features an electro-rock song 'Too Much'. All These songs seem to be missing from some of previous pop punk albums I've know and loved.

Obviously in-between these songs there is light relief like songs such as 'A Party Song' A song that features loads of 'Woah oh's' and is about a one night stand. 'Hello Brooklyn' a song about partying all over the world! But My Favourite track on the album has to be 'Keep The Change, You Filthy Animal' I recently played this song on my radio show and I realised what a powerful pop punk song it is.

Pop Punk seems to have taken a turn for the worst lately. With some very non original bands coming through the ranks. I sat here and struggle to think of bands that are decent that have come big lately. But with bands like 'Good Charlotte' and 'Simple Plan' Going back to pop punk and moving away from the emo scene, and bands like Blink 182 Reforming and recording new material, and albums like this on the shelves in music stores. You have to feel the Pop punk scene we once loved is coming back!

Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Review

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is a multi-platform video game produced by Ubisoft released on May 18 2010. The game marks a return to the the sands of time series which has made the series famous. the game was developed for PS3, Xbox 360, PC.

The Forgotten Sands returns to the storyline established by Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and concluded by Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. The game is set between a 7 year gap between Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The game revolves around the prince visiting his brother Malik, to learn how to be a leader, but when he gets there his kingdom is under attack. Knowing he is loosing the battle Malik sets out to release King Solomans army. But when the prince visits the Djinn Razia, some chilling secrets are unveiled...

The graphics in this game are flawless, in the cut scenes sometimes you find yourself questioning are there real actors in this cut scene? The complexity of the level designs is extremely well thought out. All the puzzles that are used in the game are very clever and sometimes easy to work out but not to easy. the game uses a not so unique fighting sequences but there are still some exhilarating and exciting fight scenes. The ability to be able to freeze water in mid air is a unique feature to this game and a feature that you use frequently throughout the game. This ability is easy to use and also is incorporated into puzzles. The powers you can unlock via the upgrade system are a bit lacklustre like the ability to have fire follow you when you move for a certain amount of time hardly kills any of the enemy. Although the ice blast power is really cool. The game also doesn't take that long to complete. Which you could see as either a good or bad point, Ill let you decide. the games climax is thrilling and enticing but I wont let you know what happens.

All in all this is a game filled with over simple and not so original fighting sequences, A very strong story and level designs with good background music. Some pretty kick-ass powers. A bloody epic film

Toy Story 3 Review

Funny, Dramatic and And just a bloody good family film. Three Phrases I could use to describe Toy Story 3.

Toy Story 3 is a 2010 computer animated film produced by Pixar animation studios and directed by Lee Unkrich , It stars Tom Hanks (Forest Gump) as Sheriff Woody, Tim Allen (The Santa Clause Trilogy) as Buzz Lightyear and Joan Cusack (School Of Rock) as Jessie.

Without giving to much away the film centres around the gang of toys being accidentally sent to a daycare centre Ran by the Lots-O-Huggin' bear (Ned Beatty) as Andy is leaving for college. With a bar set high, as the first 2 films are probably the best animation films iv'e ever seen, it jumps high over the bar! The third instalment in this 15 year epic has finally been completed and is now arguably the best trilogy ever made. The family fun film is full of epic laughs and genuinely sad moments. If you've followed these toys from the start like I have you will not be dissapointed with the final out come of the film.

The film appears to have a darker and more eerie feel to it than the first two, Scenes in which it flashes back to Lots-O-Huggin' bears past are really dark and there is some heart braking moments in there. On a lighter note the film has got to be the funniest of the trilogy? Some of the funniest scenes iv'e seen in a long while involve Mr. Potato Head. I wont give away what they are but believe me, there funny. Also All the new toys that live in the day centre are a genuine relief, as you fear they'd ruin the mentality of the film. The addition of Ken, a love interest for Barbie, is a stroke of genius. The ending to the film is a proper send off the toys that we've grown to love, believe me when I say there was more than a few tears in the cinema.

This Film, the best of the trilogy, is funny, warm and touching. Having already grossed over £800 million at the box office its predicted to overtake Finding Nemo as the most successful animated film of all time. I would seriously recommend you take the family to watch this film. Toy Story 3 is a funny and emotional end to the series that made Pixar Famous.

Winter Nights...

Call me crazy but I much prefer blistering cold winter nights to scorching hot summer days. The thought of sitting around a warm cosy fire while the cold night air surrounds your house is much preferred to sticking to my leather couch through the heat and sweating on a warm summer nights.

Winter nights to me consist of sat in your house, with a warm cup of tea watching a film all snuggled up in your duvet. Preparing for Christmas, and fantasizing about that morning when you wake up all excited like a 5-year old and run down the stairs to see your stack of presents. Watching films with your family eating popcorn while the rain crashes against your house. Crawling into your bed and wrapping your duvet around you in a desperate attempt to warm up, listening to rain hitting the floor and wind whistling through the midnight air.

To me all of that is preferred to being sat in your living room attempting to watch a film with the family, but you can't because your hot and sticky and your feeling irritable. No joyous holidays coming up so you have nothing to look forward to and nothing to prepare for. Listening to fly's buzzing around your head desperately looking for an escape. spread out in your bed just in your underwear covers sprawled all over your bed.

Now out of them two, which one would you prefer? I know I much prefer the winter nights...

A-Team Review

The A-Team is a 2010 action film based around 4 elite army member John "Hannibal" Smith, Templeton "Face" Peck, Bosco Albert "B.A" Baracus and H.M "Howling Mad" Murdoch. The Film Stars Liam Neeson (Schindlers List), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Quinton Jackson (Miss March) and Sharlto Copey (District 9). The film is also directed by Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces).

From the first scene you can pretty much sum up what this film is going to be about, action after action and explosion after explosion. The reason this works so well is because the actors, who are all critically acclaimed, live up to their reputations! Another thing good about the film is the comic relief that Copey bring to the table. Copey is a hidden gem in this film with some of the funniest and best scenes in the film. Cooper also impressed me in this film. Having only seen him in comedies and Rom-Com's I wasn't sure what to expect from him in an action film, but he sure delivered with a performance that blew away all my expectations. For Jackson's big blockbuster debut he did a really good job. He added comedy to the film in scenes such as where there trying to make him fly when they have not had time to inject him to knock him out for the journey. A downside to his performance was he lacked thee aggression to the character that Mr.T had. Neeson gave a good performance Demonstrating the acting skills that got him to where he is today.

The Amount of action shown in this film seems to disguise the fact that the story is very weak and has more twists and turns than you can follow. The film also has a rather dry performance from Jessica Biel as Charisa Sosa, when she try's to do romantic scenes with cooper she seems to look not in love at all. Her performance on the whole is bad. The films running time of 118 minutes is also a downside to the film.

All in all I have more good things to say than bad about the film. My opinion is if you want a film with a good story and plot, Go and see inception. If you want to see a comedy, go see toy story 3. But if you want a bloody good action film go see the A-Team.

3 1/2 out of 5 Stars.
